Cedar Springs’ mission activities are funded through two major sources:
The Global Mission Fund was established in 1974. Every church member is encouraged to give to this fund as part of his/her commitment to the body of Christ. This can be done by cash, check or via our online giving system. Donations must be designated for the Global Mission Fund.
Home missions are supported by monthly transfers from the General Fund of the church to a separate Home Missions Fund managed by the Global Mission Group for the work in North America. The General Fund also includes two mission-related funds to which gifts can be specifically designated: the Good Samaritan Fund, which is used to provide care for church members in need as well as for the walk-in needy; and the Matthew 25 Fund, which is used to provide care for local individuals outside our church.
Disbursements for mission and other benevolent causes are approximately 35 percent of total annual expenditures of the church. We believe that this is an appropriate use of the Lord’s resources.
In addition, we have two designated refugee funds:
1) Middle East Relief Fund: This is targeted at the refugees still in Lebanon, Iraq, Turkey, and Jordan.
2) Europe Refugee Crisis: This money will be used for the problem in Europe. Money will be given to partners who demonstrate two key things: One, that the money will go to the refugee problem that has exploded in Europe (not just a general refugee fund). Two, that for every dollar donated, the majority will actually reach the needy and not get absorbed in overhead.
