What is the Goal of Mission?

The goal of mission at Cedar Springs is to join with God in reconciling men and women from every language or ethnic group in the world back to their Creator. We have a number of core values that direct our efforts:

  • Focusing on finishing the task. We believe that there is a clear mandate in the New Testament that the gospel must be preached in places where it is not readily available.
  • We believe that the core mandate for the church is to make disciples. A healthy disciple becomes part of a church and, therefore, our ultimate mandate to help establish healthy churches.
  • We like to work with indigenous (or national) Christians wherever possible
  • We send people from Cedar Springs when it is clear they are called to cross-cultural mission and their gifting fulfills a clear void in God’s kingdom

Our Involvement
Cedar Springs has been given the privilege to serve Christ’s Church in many ways over the years. Currently, we support approximately 70 organizations and ministries, both local and international, as well as around the same number of missionary couples or singles in over 30 different countries. We have adopted six people groups, two of which have been reached and have reproducing churches. We adopted the nation of Mozambique, and our involvement is primarily in the areas of church development, ministry to at risk children, and community development. We also adopted the community of Lonsdale in the inner city of Knoxville where our greatest input has been the investment of time, tutoring the children of Lonsdale Elementary School and working with THRIVE Lonsdale. We have been involved in planting churches, in many cities around the world, including Knoxville, Boston, San Francisco, Rome, Paris, Berlin, Athens, and others.
