Children's Leagues

Cedar Springs Sports & Family Outreach Philosophy Statement

These are instructional programs in which the emphasis will be placed on participation and fun. Our purpose is to teach skills and to share the love of Jesus Christ.

The focus of the leagues for boys and girls offered by Sports and Family Outreach is to allow children to grow physically, emotionally, and spiritually in a non-competitive, fun, Christ-centered environment. Equal playing time is guaranteed, and sportsmanship and character development are stressed through the overall feel of the league and the devotions that the coaches share at practices. All games will begin with a prayer, and a few minutes will be set aside during every practice for a devotion.

Committed Christian Coaches Needed!

In order to fulfill our goal of providing an opportunity for young people to develop their skills in a sport in an environment that is Christ-centered, we need committed Christian men and women. Please pray about your involvement. Call Mike Wenger, 291-5236, for more information.

Basketball League

Offered in the winter -

  • Mighty Mites Basketball Academy: for boys and girls in first grade
  • Youth Basketball: for boys and girls 2nd-5th grades (all teams are coed) Raiders (2nd and 3rd grades)
  • Crusaders (4th and 5th grades)
  • Middle School Boys or Girls Basketball: separate leagues for 6th-8th grade boys and girls

Youth Baseball and Girls Softball

Offered in the spring -

  • Rookie League (coed, coaches pitch): kindergarten and 1st grades (must be 5 by March 1).
  • Minor League (boys only, coaches pitch): 2nd and 3rd grade boys
  • Major League (boys only, pitching machine): 4th-6th grade boys
  • Sandlot League (girls softball, coaches pitch): 2nd and 3rd grade girls
  • Diamond League (girls softball, coaches pitch): 4th-6th grade girls

Youth Soccer

Offered in the fall (all teams are coed) -

  • Mighty Mite Academy: 4-year-olds
  • Lions: Kindergarten and 1st grades
  • Raiders: 2nd and 3rd grades
  • Crusaders: 4th-5th grades
  • Middle School: 6th-8th grades
