Teaching on Prayer

“My house will be called a house of prayer.” Matthew 21:13

One of the main objectives of the Prayer Ministry is to provide on-going teaching on Prayer. Ultimately, the goal is to have a curriculum of classes and workshops which are offered throughout the year. As classes are offered on Wednesday nights or Sunday mornings, they will be announced on this page and in the regular church communication channels (Sunday announcements, weekly e-mail, etc.)

Meanwhile, a six-session video class is available featuring Jim Cymbala, entitled “When God’s People Pray”. This video series provides the Scriptural foundation for the importance and benefits of prayer. The videos incorporate Jim’s teaching on prayer-related Scripture, along with powerful testimonies from members of the Brooklyn Tabernacle Church who have experienced tremendous healing and restoration through prayer. If you are interested in leading this study in your Sunday School class or Bible Study, please check out the video from Cedar Springs' library located on the second floor outside the Sanctuary doors.

Few books on the subject of prayer are as challenging as, "With Christ in the School of Prayer,” by Andrew Murray. Murray calls Christians to simply accept the “promise” of prayer and to focus their energy and efforts in understanding and living the “conditions” of prayer.

“I would rather teach one man to pray than ten men to preach.” Charles Spurgeon
