Deacon Car Care
Deacon Car Care is offered quarterly and is available at no charge to widows, single moms, and others who may have financial difficulties. To schedule an appointment or to volunteer, call Bill Jacks (865) 693-0502.
When a car arrives at Car Care the owner is asked if they have any concerns about the car or have any specific problems. All cars are test-driven to ascertain any drive-ability problems such as brakes, suspension, tire balance, steering, warning lights, transmission, etc.
The car is then taken to the shop area where the engine oil and filter are changed (if needed) and the following inspections are performed: exhaust system, suspension system, brakes, tires, engine air filter, and shock absorbers. The following fluid levels are checked, and they are filled to the correct level if they are low: master brake cylinder, power steering, engine coolant, windshield washer fluid, transmission fluid, and battery electrolyte. All lights are checked including headlights, tail lights, turn signals, and reverse lights.
When the work is completed, a copy of the checklist is given to the owner and all recommendations for repair are discussed with the owner.
We ask that you please register by calling Bill Jacks at the (865) 693-0502 by Sunday, March 26.
