School Mania: Community Event and Backpack Giveaway
Saturday, July 25
8:00 AM – 12:00 PM (The event will be open to the public from 9 – 11 AM)
in the Gymnasium

Community Outreach is excited to host an event aimed at connecting with our local neighbors. They will be inviting the surrounding community to enjoy obstacle courses, coffee, doughnuts, and popsicles! In collaboration with Mayor Glenn Jacobs’ School Mania initiative, Cedar Springs will distribute 500 backpacks filled with essential school supplies during this event. Volunteer opportunities include:

• Parking Lot Hosts
• Fun Directors
• Backpack Distributors
• Flow Captains
• Playground Connectors

More about Mayor Glenn Jacob’s School Mania Initiative
Thanks to area businesses, churches, and generous donors, Knox County Mayor Glenn Jacobs’ “School Mania” will provide 6,000 backpacks filled with school supplies to those in need throughout Knoxville. The list of supplies being distributed was curated with the help of Knox County Schools to include as many general school supplies as possible. Bags are available on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last at various pickup locations around town.

If you’re interested in helping prepare the backpacks for distribution, please consider joining the School Mania Staging Day events organized by our Community Outreach team leaders on:

• Friday, July 17: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM or 1:00 – 5:00 PM
• Monday, July 20: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM or 1:00 – 5:00 PM
