Summers McMurray

Summers grew up in North Carolina but has lived more than half her life here in Knoxville, the place she now calls home. She married her college sweetheart, Torrey, and somehow convinced him to move across the country to Pasadena, California for graduate school. She got her Masters in Theology and Doctorate in Psychology at Fuller Theological Seminary, soaking up every minute of living on the west coast before moving back east to settle down in Knoxville. Summers is proud to be the mom of three teenagers, Shepard, Landry, and Graeme, who keep her busy and on her toes. She worked as a clinical psychologist at Ebenezer Counseling Services for 9 years before transitioning into full-time ministry at Cedar Springs in 2015. Summers feels deeply grateful to have the opportunity to work at Cedar Springs, the church where she has been a member since her college days. She is constantly aware of what a tremendous privilege it is to hear people's stories and to be invited into what God is doing in people's lives. While she is an avid fan of soccer, the Avett Brothers, strong coffee, and the mountains, her deepest joy is spending slow, unhurried time with her people.
