Welcome Hall Construction Information
SUNDAY, August 7 – THE STAIRWELL FROM THE WELCOME HALL TO THE SECOND FLOOR WILL BE CLOSED.
Welcome Hall doors will still be open, just the stairs to the second floor will be closed. You can still enter through the Welcome Hall doors if you prefer. If you want to access the balcony you will need to use Mission Hallway or the stairwell located inside the narthex.
An alternate route would be to enter the East Wing doors and use the interior stairs of the sanctuary in the corners.
Over the past few months, you’ve heard James and others mention how we long for our church and its campus to be a place of connection for you and the community around us. Behind the scenes, a team has been working on updating some of our facility spaces to be as warm and inviting as possible to everyone from first-time guests to someone who’s worshiped with us for more than 50 years. You may have even heard me talking about creating more ‘lingering spaces’ where folks can gather. We are excited to announce that in the coming months we’re planning on a renovation of our Welcome Hall. This area just outside the sanctuary doors is the main front door to our church on Sundays and we particularly want to design it with an eye for first-time guests. We’ll be creating a new Welcome Center where someone can ask questions about the church or find ways to get more connected. Our hope is that this space will feel like you’re standing around the island of your best friend’s kitchen or in the living room of a family member.
Additionally, we’re going to modernize all the bathrooms in the Narthex at the same time, including adding changing stations to those men’s bathrooms. And that’s not all! Coming soon, we’ll add a new ‘Wiggle Room’ to our sanctuary in the small room off the foyer just inside the Kingston Pike front doors. This space will be designed for parents or grandparents of little ones for when James’s sermon has gone long enough but you don’t want to have to leave the sanctuary either.
We ask for your patience now that the construction has begun and it may disrupt some of our normal traffic patterns on Sundays when entering and exiting the sanctuary.
Each week we will notify you of Sunday traffic patterns in your Saturday morning email. You can also check at cspc.net/news and there will be a scrolling announcement at cspc.net.
