Pastoral Prayer
Gracious Heavenly Father, we give you all of our adoration, praise & thanksgiving as we come before your throne – For you are the only living God in whom we worship & trust. We are thankful for the great grip of grace that you have on our lives for you are the overseer of our hearts & souls forever. We thank you for the blessing of being able of sing your words from scripture back to you. For you alone have words that are true & life giving. You are perfect in all of your ways. And we thank you for being a God who is both just and merciful. A God who is full of love and compassion. A God who forgives and has all wisdom, knowledge and peace! We thank you that because of your Son’s death on the cross that we can be forgiven and know it. As far as the east is from the west, have you forgiven our sin. By grace alone, by faith alone, in Christ alone we come before you this morning. We pray for the church of Jesus Christ, its members and its Mission around the world. We lift up to you missionary Tim Commer with city to city Balkan’s & for our other mission partners. Please watch over them and their families Lord. We pray for an expansion of your Gospell in our own country & around the world – For the great commission of Jesus – Hear our Prayers O Lord.
Father, we thank you for the peace that is found in Jesus and a life that you give us as a free gift because of Him. May we follow his paths of peace, unity and love toward others. We pray for our own city of Knoxville and the surrounding area – may your kingdom come here – for our city – Hear our Prayers O’Lord.
Thank you for our Church and for the calling you have placed on us to be a light to our city, our nation and the world. Continue to lead us by your Spirit to give us and our ministry partners clear pathways so that we might make your name great on earth as it is in heaven. That your kingdom might reign in our hearts and in our lives. For the local Church – Hear our prayers O’Lord.
Father you know those who are hurting this morning. Some who are sick or in pain. Others suffer physically, emotionally and spiritually from the effects of sin in this world. Some struggle from the consequences of poor choices that are contrary to your word. We pray for others who struggle with an addiction. Lord have mercy on many inside & outside of these church walls. For those we know who are struggling this morning in various ways – Hear our prayers O’Lord.
Lord, we pray for the nations and all in authority. We pray for our president and leaders around the world. That you would raise up Godly men and women to lead. Remove those from power who seek to do harm. We pray for those who are caught in the middle of a war they never wanted and for the innocent who suffer. We pray that you might intervene and bring mercy as we pray for our world – Hear our prayers O’Lord. Our hearts are grateful for the full assurance that through Jesus Christ, you hear our prayers. Not because of anything in us, but because of your Holy Spirit and the perfect & completed work of your Son. May we in turn allow you Father – to bend our wills to yours. Make us the men and women of God that you would have us be for your kingdom’s sake. Now in the silence – May you hear the cries & whispers of our hearts. We pray these things in the name of the King of Kings and Lord of Lords – Jesus Christ. Amen
