John Barber

Although John was born in Texas and grew up in Florida, he considers himself a Knoxvillian at heart. He and his wife Janna met at a small Baptist college in Arkansas, then moved to Maryland for six years, before settling in Knoxville in 2006. They’ve raised three kids here: Sam (24), Laney (20), and Ben (16). In his time in Knoxville, John has worked as a church staff member, a church planter, and as the Director for a local non-profit. John graduated from Dallas Theological Seminary in 2015, where he earned a Master’s Degree in Biblical Studies. He loves going to the movies or reading a great book almost as much as he loves his Baltimore Ravens, Atlanta Braves, and Orlando Magic. John is passionate about many things and loves to debate with his friends about the best bands, songs, TV shows, fast food restaurants, candy, and more; but he is even more passionate about serving others and introducing them to Christ. John is thrilled about being the Director of Adult Ministries at Cedar Springs!
