Matt Ternes

Matt was born and raised in Knoxville, Tennessee, and although he spent four years living in Florida, Knoxville has always felt like home. He and his wife, Becca, love spending time outdoors, hosting friends and family, and finding any reason to welcome people into their home. Matt enjoys running, playing sports that involve a club or racquet, and has recently developed an interest in woodworking and furniture building. He also loves playing board and card games—and building box forts—with his three children: Ila, Silas, and Phoebe. Having grown up in the church, Matt experienced a deep transformation in college when Scripture came alive to him in new and dynamic ways. He treasures time with the Lord in the early morning hours, seeing his children grow in their faith, and walking through life alongside friends and their families. Matt is grateful to serve at Cedar Springs—a community that has played a significant role in his own spiritual journey—and is passionate about helping others come to know Christ and grow in their relationship with Him.
